The Alabama track and field teams will open the 2023 outdoor season this weekend in Starkville, Miss., at the Bulldog Relays.
The Crimson Tide will begin the weekend meet at the Mike Sanders Track and Field Complex with the men's discus throw leading off at 3:30 p.m. CT on Friday afternoon. The Alabama women's program currently sits in second place of the USTFCCCA Program of the Year Standings – Mid-Year Update after the conclusion of both the cross country and indoor seasons. The men's program sits at No. 9 in the mid-year standings. |

![]() ![]() Tuscaloosa, AL Bamas Nick Dunlap Named SEC Freshman of the Week
University of Alabama mens golfer Nick Dunlap has been recognized as the Southeastern Conferences Freshman of the Week, the league announced Wednesday.
This is the second time Dunlap has earned the leagues weekly award this season. Nick Dunlap, SEC Freshman of the Week Dunlap secured the individual medalist honor at the Linger Longer Invitational with a 10-under par 206 (70-66-70) In doing so, Dunlap led the Crimson Tide to the team tournament title (-14) which marked the team's second win of the year and first of the spring season Dunlap became the first UA freshman to win a tournament since 2014 (Robby Shelton) Dunlap would go on to finish tied for first in par 5 scoring (-8, 4.33) and par 3 scoring (-2, 2.83). He is the fourth Alabama golfer to win medalist honors at the Linger Longer, joining Bud Cauley (2010), Cory Whitsett (2011, 2012, 2013) and Lee Hodges (2018). Dunlap has now collected a team-leading 17 rounds of par or better. |

The University of Alabama football program hosted its annual Pro Day inside the Hank Crisp Indoor Facility Thursday, with 15 draft-eligible Crimson Tide athletes showcasing their talents and meeting with representatives from all 32 NFL teams.
The draft-eligible players that participated in the events included Jordan Battle, Brain Branch, DJ Dale, Emil Ekiyor Jr., Jahmyr Gibbs, DeMarcco Hellams, Cameron Latu, Kendall Randolph, Eli Ricks, Tyler Steen, Henry To'oTo'o, Bryce Young and Byron Young. Draft-eligible players that did not participate in on-field drills but were in attendance included Will Anderson Jr. and Jaylen Moody. |

![]() ![]() Tuscaloosa, AL Mens Swimming and Diving Opens NCAA Championships
The Alabama men's swimming and diving team opened the 2023 NCAA Championships with two top-15 relay finishes Wednesday at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center in Minneapolis, Minn.
Alabama started the meet with an 11th-place finish in the 200 medley relay as the contingent of Matt Menke, Derek Maas, Mateo Miceli and Tim Korstanje posted a season-best time in the event. The Crimson Tide's second swim of the night featured Charlie Hawke, Kaique Alves, Cam Auerbach and Kacper Piotrowski as the four combined for a 10th-place finish in the 800 freestyle relay. |

![]() ![]() Tuscaloosa, AL Softball Run Rules UAB, 12-0, in Five Innings
Alabama softball was efficient in all phases of the game Wednesday night at Rhoads Stadium, dispatching UAB, 12-0, in just over an hour behind a one-hit shutout from Alex Salter and a big day at the plate for the offense.
Alabama (23-8) tallied a season-high 14 hits in the win over UAB (13-16), scoring two runs in the first inning before hanging a crooked number in the second with nine runs on seven hits and an error to make it 11-0. Another in the third brought the score to 12-0, which ultimately proved final as Salter (3-1) and the defense made quick work of the Blazers down the stretch. A one-out single in the top of the fifth broke up Salter's perfect game bid, otherwise retiring 15 of the 16 batters she faced. |

![]() ![]() Minneapolis, Minn. Bama Swimming and Diving Set for Mens NCAA Championships
The Alabama mens swimming and diving team is set to compete at the NCAA Championships in Minneapolis, Minn., at Minnesotas Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center. The four-day meet will run from March 22-25.
The Crimson Tide had five swimmers qualify for individual events, with Charlie Hawke, Victor Johansson, Derek Maas, Matt Menke and Mateo Miceli representing Alabama across eight individual events. Kaique Alves, Cam Auerbach, Tim Korstanje and Kacper Piotrowski also qualified for the meet as part of all five of Alabamas qualifying relays. |

![]() ![]() Tuscaloosa, AL Softball Drops Finale to Hawgs in 10th, 2-1
For the second straight night, Alabama had the bases loaded with a chance to get the walk-off win over Arkansas, but the Crimson Tide could not get it done again on Monday night in the series finale as the Razorbacks held on to win, 2-1, in 10 innings.
Alabama (22-8, 1-2 SEC) took the first lead over Arkansas (22-8, 3-3 SEC) on a two-out solo home run from Emma Broadfoot in the bottom of the second, but the Razorbacks tied it up in the top of the fourth on an RBI single by Lauren Camenzind. Arkansas stranded runners at the corners in the top of the fifth and the Crimson Tide left two on base in the sixth, as it remained knotted up at 1-1 heading to the seventh. |

![]() ![]() Tuscaloosa, AL Baseball Run Rules UAB, 12-2, on Tuesday
Alabama baseball scored in four of the final five innings for the 12-2, eight-inning win over UAB on Tuesday evening at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. The Crimson Tide is now 18-4 on the season.
UAB took an early lead with one in the first and kept Alabama off the board until the fourth. That fourth saw the Tide score two runs to take the lead for good. Alabama added five in the sixth and two in the seventh before the Blazers tallied one in the eighth. The Tide then crossed three in the eighth to end the game at 12-2 for the run-rule victory. The Tide offense was powered by Drew Williamson, who finished 2-for-3 with a home run, three RBI and a run scored. Tommy Seidl provided three hits as part of a perfect 3-for-3 effort that included a double and three runs scored. Colby Shelton joined the veterans with a multi-hit night, contributing two hits and a pair of runs while drawing one walk. Jacob McNairy (3-1) got the win with 5.0 innings of one-run baseball. The right-hander allowed just four hits and issued no walks while striking out four. |

![]() ![]() Tuscaloosa, AL Bamas Auerbach, Maas & Antoniou Named CSC 2nd-Team All-Americans
Alabama swimming and divings Cam Auerbach and Derek Maas were awarded Second-Team Academic All-America honors by the College Sports Communicators, the organization announced Tuesday.
This year's honor marks Auerbach's first appearance on the CSC Academic team. For Maas, the announcement becomes the third consecutive time that the Holland, Mich., native has made the list after being awarded first-team CSC honors in both the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons. Both seniors currently hold a perfect 4.00 GPA with Auerbach chasing a marketing degree and Maas pursuing a masters in business administration. Earlier this week, swimmer Kalia Antoniou, from the women's side, also earned second-team CSC Academic All-America honors for the Crimson Tide. It's the first appearance on the list for Auerbach and third-straight for Maas, who have both qualified for the 2023 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. |

The No. 8 Alabama gymnastics team will travel to Norman, Okla., for the 2023 NCAA Regional Championships, announced Monday during the NCAA Gymnastics Selection Show.
Alabama is the No. 2 seed in the regional, with No. 1 Oklahoma the top seed. The Tide and the Sooners will be joined by No. 9 Kentucky and No. 16 Ohio State as the ranked teams in the regional field. To begin the three round regional competition, NC State and Ball State will compete in a play-in matchup on Wednesday, March 29, with the winner advancing to Thursday's regional semifinals. |

Five Alabama swimmers earned qualifying spots for the upcoming NCAA Mens Swimming and Diving Championships, which will be held on the campus of Minnesota, March 22-25.
Alabama's men are coming off a seventh-place team finish at the Southeastern Conference Championships with the program capturing a gold medal and three school records across the meet. Last season, the Crimson Tide earned a 14th place finish at the NCAA Championships, marking its eighth consecutive top-15 finish. |

Alabamas Brandon Miller was named the Southeastern Conference Player of the Year, while Jahvon Quinerly was tabbed the Co-Sixth Man of the Year, as the league office announced the 2023 men's basketball postseason awards on Monday.
In addition to those honors, Mark Sears earned All-SEC Second Team honorees, while Charles Bediako was named to the SEC All-Defensive Team. Joining Miller on the SEC All-Freshman Team is teammates Jaden Bradley and Noah Clowney. Alabama's six players earning nine awards in total is the most ever in program history for the Tide. This is the seventh consecutive season a Tide rookie earned a spot on the all-freshman team, joining JD Davidson (2022), Joshua Primo (2021), Jaden Shackelford (2020), Kira Lewis Jr. (2019), Collin Sexton (2018), and Braxton Key (2017). |

Alabama fifth-year senior Montana Fouts was named the Southeastern Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week after throwing three shutouts, including the eighth perfect game in program history.
Fouts threw 19 shutout innings this week across three starts, allowing just four hits and four walks while striking out 36. After six shutout innings on Wednesday vs. Southern Miss and a complete-game shutout vs. Longwood on Saturday, she saved her best performance for last with a six-inning perfect game in the rematch against the Lancers on Sunday. The perfect game is the eighth in program history and the third for Fouts, previously contributing to a combined perfect game at Alabama State (Feb. 12, 2021) and throwing a solo perfect game against UCLA at the Women's College World Series (June 4, 2021). The Grayson, Ky., native had double-digit strikeouts in each game this week, pushing her past 100 Ks for the season. The weekly award is Fouts' first this season and the 14th weekly award of her career, including four Freshman of the Week honors in 2019 and nine previous Pitcher of the Week awards. Alabama pitchers have now won a combined 51 SEC Pitcher of the Week awards all-time. |

Alabama pitching continued making headlines on the third and final day of the T-Mobile Crimson Classic, with Montana Fouts throwing the eighth perfect game in program history as part of a pair of Sunday shutouts over Longwood and Mercer.
Fouts went 18-up, 18-down in a six-inning run rule victory for Alabama (17-3) over Longwood (10-9) in the opening game of the day, striking out 14. The perfect game is the eighth in program history and third of Fouts' career, previously contributing to a combined perfect game at Alabama State (Feb. 12, 2021) and throwing a solo perfect game against UCLA in the 2021 Women's College World Series (June 4, 2021). The offense saved her an inning of work, scoring seven runs before Jordan Stephens capped it off with an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth to secure the run-rule victory. |

Alabama softball shut out Southern Miss, 5-0, Wednesday night at Rhoads Stadium.
After two scoreless innings, Alabama (12-3) got into the run column first against Southern Miss (12-2) courtesy of a two-out RBI single from Ashley Prange. In the bottom of the fourth with two on and one out, Jenna Johnson added some cushion with a three-run home run to left, making it 4-0. Bailey Dowling one-hopped the wall in left for an RBI double in the fifth to stretch the lead to five, and the 5-0 lead proved final as the Crimson Tide kept the Golden Eagles out of the run column for the remained to retain the shutout. |

The Southeastern Conference announced its 2023 women's basketball postseason awards Tuesday.
South Carolina's Aliyah Boston was named Player of the Year as well as Defensive Player of the Year. This is Boston's fourth straight Defensive Player of the Year award and second Player of the Year honor. She was also named Freshman of the Year in 2020. LSU's Flau'jae Johnson was named Freshmen of the Year with the 6th Woman of the Year award going to South Carolina's Kamilla Cardoso. Alabama's Hannah Barber was named Scholar-Athlete of the Year. South Carolina's Dawn Staley was named Coach of the Year. This is Staley's sixth SEC Coach of the Year honor. First-team and second-team All-SEC honorees, All-Freshman team, All-Defensive team, along with Player, Coach and Freshman, Defensive Player, 6th Player and Scholar-Athlete of the Year were chosen by the league's 14 coaches.
